Next week is Art Basel week. Founded in 1970 by Ernst Beyeler, Trudi Bruckner and Balz Hilt, it has grown to be one of the most important art fairs in the world. Last year 95’000 visitors visited the fair. This year 290 galleries from across the world will present modern and contemporary works by over 4,000 artists. Stay tuned on my Instagram while I report live from the fair. Here are 5 tips pre Art Basel.
1. Art Basel Parcours

As part of Art Basel Parcours, site-specific sculptures, interventions, and performances can be discovered throughout Basel. A highlight: Jessica Stockholder, artist sketches for Three Squared on the River Bank at Wettsteinbrücke at the Rhine river.
2. Warteck Areal
Enjoy the city of Basel and hang-out at terrace of Warteck areal (Burgweg 7-15). The vibe of the place is unique and provides a space of exchange of diverse talents and ideas. I really like the industrial touch and the breathtaking views over the city.
3. Villa Wenkenhof

Villa Wenkenhof is Basel’s answer to “Versailles” in miniature. For those arriving earlier. It currently hosts Fruits and Bodies by Swiss artist Claudia Comte. Conceived especially for the garden of The Villa Wenkenhof on the occasion of the Alexander Clavel Prize 2018. Runs until 10 June 2018.
4. Art meets Medicine
A very interesting place to visit is the Campus of Novartis. The campus located at the Novartis headquarters has developed into a must visit for modern architecture lovers.
5. The Rhine
As many know, I am a fond swimmer. The rhine provides an ideal setup for swimming. You can jump into the river at the Tinguely Museum and let yourself float up to the beach bars beyond the barracks of the Kaserne.
Thanks for reading & see you in Basel.
